A small broom of natural grass fibre, gathered and bound with wrapped cane, with a loop at the top so it can hang where it is used. It is 31 cm long, which puts it firmly in the class of thing you keep on a table rather than in a cupboard.

The point of a soft grass head at this size is that it moves crumbs without scattering them. A stiff brush flicks rice and breadcrumbs off the far edge of the table; grass fibre gathers them into a line you can pick up. It is the right tool for a wooden table, a windowsill, a desk, or the shelf under a coffee grinder.

It is a table broom. It will not sweep a floor, and it is not tall enough to try.

Care

Shake it out. If it needs more than that, comb the head with your fingers and let it hang. Do not wash it - wet grass fibre stays wet at the bound end where it cannot dry, and that is where it would start to smell.

Questions

Will it shed?
A little, the first few times. Shake or tap it before the first use and the loose fibres come out; after that it settles.

Does a dustpan come with it?
No. This is the broom only.

Can it sweep a floor?
No. At 31 cm you would be on your knees. It is for tables, counters, sills and desks.

Will every one look the same?
No. The colour of the grass and the exact shape of the head vary between brooms, since each is bound by hand.
