Each one is built like a tiny bamboo raft - a mat of thin slats, held in a frame of four round poles that cross and stick out at the corners. One cup sits on it, lifted just off the table.

It is all bamboo, slats and frame alike. The small size is made for gongfu cups; the large one takes an everyday teacup.

Wipe with a damp cloth and let them dry flat. No soaking and no dishwasher. Dark tea will slowly tint the slats.

Questions

Which size should I get?
Measure the bottom of your cup. Small has a 6 x 5.6 cm center - right for little gongfu cups. Large has a 9 x 9 cm center, for a standard teacup or small mug.

Will a spill go through?
Yes. It is a slatted mat, not a solid board, so water reaches the table underneath. When you are pouring, keep the cups on a tea tray.

How is it different from your rattan coasters?
The rattan set is four round woven coasters in four sizes, for mugs and everyday drinks. These are square bamboo mats sized for tea cups, sold as four of one size.

Bamboo varies from stalk to stalk, so the color and slat width of yours will differ a little from the photos. That is the plant, not a fault.
