See shipping policy See return policyThe spoon comes out of the pot and there is nowhere to put it. So it goes on the counter, or across the pot handle, or on a folded piece of kitchen roll that is now the wettest thing in the room.
A shallow olive wood rest, 8.2 inches long and 3.1 inches wide, deep enough to catch a drip and long enough to take a spatula rather than only a spoon.

Care
Wipe it out with a damp cloth after cooking and dry it straight away. No soaking, no dishwasher. Oily sauces are easier to lift if you wipe while the rest is still warm. Re-oil with food-grade mineral oil when the wood looks dry, which will be more often than for a piece that does not sit in steam.
Questions
Will tomato or turmeric stain it?
They can tint the surface over time. Olive wood is dense and resists it better than an open-grained wood, but wiping while the rest is still warm is what keeps it clean.
Can I set a hot spoon straight down on it?
A hot utensil is fine. What wood will not take is a pan straight off the heat; the sustained temperature scorches it.
Is it big enough for a ladle?
At 8.2 inches long, yes for the bowl of a ladle, with the handle overhanging. A spatula sits on it fully.
Styling Tip
It stays out permanently, so it is doing decorative work as well as practical work. See the rest of the wood in Olive Wood Kitchenware, and the woven side of the shop in The Serein Edit.
Handmade, so each rest carries a different grain pattern and a different depth of colour.
