Butter straight from the fridge tears the toast. A wide, blunt wooden blade pushes it around instead of through it, which is the whole trick.
Cut from a single piece of olive wood, 7 inches long and about 2 ounces in the hand. Polished smooth, with the grain left visible rather than stained over.

Care
Hand wash in warm water with a little mild soap, then dry it immediately with a cloth. Never put it in the dishwasher and never leave it soaking, since prolonged heat and water are what split wooden utensils. If the surface starts to look dry or pale, rub in a few drops of food-grade mineral oil and wipe off whatever has not soaked in.
Questions
Will it hold a smell or a colour?
Olive wood is dense and close-grained, which is why it is used for kitchen tools in the first place; it takes on far less than an open-grained wood. Strong ingredients like turmeric or garlic can still tint or scent it slightly over time.
Is it dishwasher safe?
No. The heat and the long soak will raise the grain, dull the finish and eventually crack the blade. Hand wash and dry straight away.
Can I use it as a knife?
It is a spreader, not a cutting tool. The edge is blunt by design, which is what stops it tearing soft bread.
Styling Tip
It reads as part of the setting rather than cutlery, so it can stay out on a breakfast board instead of going back in the drawer. The rest of the wood is in Olive Wood Kitchenware; pair it with a woven tray from Handwoven Rattan.
Every piece is cut from natural stock, so the grain pattern and the depth of colour differ from one spreader to the next.
